British Longhair Color Varieties at Mantra Cats

At Mantra Cats, we produce British Longhair kittens in every color our breeding program generates — which means the full range of colors you will find in our British Shorthair program, in a flowing semi-long coat. This includes solid self colors, bicolor combinations, tortoiseshell and tortie patterns, and tabby varieties. Every color available in British Shorthair has a British Longhair equivalent, and we work to produce both alongside each other.

The most commonly available British Longhair colors at Mantra Cats are Blue, Lilac, Chocolate, White (including blue-eyed and odd-eyed), Black, and Cream. Bicolor, tortie, and tabby British Longhairs are also produced in specific litters. Contact us for details on which colors are currently expected in upcoming litters.

Does the Color Affect Temperament or Care?

Color does not affect temperament — all British Longhairs share the same calm, affectionate, non-demanding personality regardless of coat color. Care is the same across all colors: weekly brushing to prevent tangles and manage shedding, with slightly more attention during seasonal coat changes. The only color-specific care difference applies to blue-eyed and odd-eyed white Longhairs, which are hearing-tested before adoption due to the statistical association between the white gene and deafness.

Choosing a British Longhair Color

If you have a specific color preference, the best approach is to explore our individual color pages — each one describes the genetics, appearance, and rarity of that color in detail. You can then contact us to ask what colors are expected in upcoming Longhair litters and join the waitlist for your preferred choice. Because British Longhair litters are smaller in number than our Shorthair program, specific Longhair colors may have longer waitlist times.

If you are open to color, letting us know your general preferences — warm tones vs. cool tones, solid vs. patterned — and we can match you to the next available Longhair kitten that fits.
