Mantra Cats is a CFA and TICA registered cattery in Houston, Texas, specializing in British Shorthair and British Longhair cats. Our breeding program is built around documented pedigrees, careful selection of breeding cats, preservation of breed characteristics, and participation in recognized cat registry and show systems.
Our Cat Registries
Mantra Cats is registered with both CFA and TICA. These two internationally recognized cat registries have their own histories, standards, registration systems, and show traditions. Together, they provide our breeding program with access to two established pedigreed-cat organizations.
CFA — The Cat Fanciers' Association
Founded in 1906, the Cat Fanciers' Association (CFA) is one of the oldest and most established pedigreed cat registries in the world. CFA has played an important role in preserving recognized breeds, maintaining breed standards, registering pedigreed cats, and providing a structured system for sanctioned cat shows.
Mantra Cats is a CFA-registered cattery and participates in the CFA show system. Our British Shorthairs are selected with attention to pedigree, breed type, structure, coat, eye color, temperament, and overall presentation.
Our connection with CFA is also reflected in the achievements of our breeding program, including Polo's CFA Gulf Shore Regional Champion title for the 2024–2025 season.
TICA — The International Cat Association
The International Cat Association (TICA) was established in 1967 and has grown into one of the world's largest genetic registries for pedigreed cats and household pets. TICA maintains breed standards and operates an international system of cat registration and cat shows.
Mantra Cats is also a TICA-registered cattery. Our participation in TICA gives our cats access to another internationally recognized registration and show system while supporting our commitment to pedigreed British Shorthair and British Longhair breeding.
For kitten families, dual registration with CFA and TICA provides additional pedigree documentation and flexibility for owners who may wish to participate in either registry's show system.
Polo's Championship Journey
Our stud male Polo's achievement as CFA Gulf Shore Regional Champion 2024–2025 represents the results of careful breeding, selection, and participation in the CFA show system.
The CFA Gulf Shore Region encompasses Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Wyoming, and Mexico. Polo competed at CFA-sanctioned shows within this regional system alongside other pedigreed cats.
CFA judges evaluate cats according to established breed standards, including characteristics such as head shape, body type, coat quality, eye color, balance, temperament, and overall presentation. Polo's regional championship recognition is an important achievement for our breeding program.
