CFA Regional Champion Polo: On Track for Top 10 in the World

We are thrilled to announce that our stud Polo has earned his CFA Gulf Shore Regional Championship title for the 2024–2025 show season — and is now actively competing on the CFA international circuit, with several of our cats on track to place among the Top 10 British Shorthairs in the world.

This is a milestone we have worked toward since founding Mantra Cats, and one that means something concrete for every family who adopts from us. Champion status is not a marketing phrase here — it is a verifiable, public record of how Polo's genetics have been evaluated by certified judges against the strictest British Shorthair breed standards in the world.

What a CFA Regional Championship Actually Means

The CFA — Cat Fanciers' Association — is the world's largest registry of pedigreed cats and the organizing body of the most rigorous show circuit in the cat fancy. Earning a Regional Championship title means Polo was evaluated by certified CFA judges at multiple shows across the Gulf Shore region — covering Texas, Louisiana, and neighboring states — and placed above all other British Shorthairs competing in that region over an entire season.

Judges evaluate against the official CFA British Shorthair breed standard: the dense, plush, stand-away coat; the round, broad head with full cheeks and round eyes; the cobby, muscular body with short strong legs; and the calm, composed temperament that British Shorthairs are known for. Polo was found exceptional on every criterion.

The Top 10 worldwide ranking is a further distinction — it places Polo among the ten highest-scoring British Shorthairs across all CFA regions globally. These rankings are calculated from show performance across an entire season and are published in official CFA records. Anyone can verify them.

Why We Show Our Cats

We show because it holds us accountable in a way that nothing else does. When you enter a cat into a CFA show, you submit to external evaluation by certified judges who have no interest in your feelings about your cat — only in whether that cat genuinely meets the breed standard. Winning at that level is evidence. It is not a claim we make about ourselves; it is a verdict that independent experts have returned about our breeding stock.

Most British Shorthair breeders in Texas do not show. Some claim champion bloodlines without any show record to support it. Others have cats with a championship title somewhere in the pedigree — a grandparent, a great-grandparent — but are not actively competing themselves. At Mantra Cats, the champion is the stud actively producing your kitten, and the titles are current, not historical.
